Dr. Brett Piekarski is the Senior Campaign Scientist for the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Sciences for Maneuver Campaign. The Campaign explores basic and applied research in Vehicle Intelligence, Energy and Propulsion, Platform Mechanics, and Logistics and Sustainability for manned and unmanned systems. He serves as the Collaborative Alliance Manager for ARL’s Distributed and Collaborative Intelligent Systems and Technology Collaborative Research Alliance that is focused on performing fundamental science in Distributed Intelligence, Heterogeneous Group Behavior, and Resilient Tactical Behaviors for large heterogeneous teams of Soldiers and Intelligent Systems. Dr. Piekarski also leads ARL’s Essential Research Area in Tactical Unit Energy Independence which is exploring methods to extend the operational duration of human agent teams in dispersed and contested environments. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering (ME) from the University of North Dakota, a Masters in ME from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in ME from the University of Maryland.
